| St. Augustine Beach is located on Anastasia
Island just across the river from St. Augustine. Anastasia Island is
about 12.5 miles long and is about 2.5 miles wide at is widest
point. It's known best for its most popular beaches Crescent Beach
and St. Augustine Beach. What's different about Saint Augustine
Beach from other vacation destinations is its laid back
atmosphere. The two largest stores are Publix and
Winn Dixie and the rest are small family businesses. The majority of
the buildings are residential homes and condominiums. There is a
height limit on buildings of 35 feet so you want see huge high-rise
condos that is common in other Florida vacation communities.
There's lots of fun things to do in Saint Augustine. St Johns County has over 40 miles of unspoiled scenic coastline. There is the Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic Ocean and the St. Johns River. There are plenty of parks, boat ramps and fishing piers. If shopping is your thing, there are lots of small shops in the historic district and an outlet malls out near I-95. There many ways to go site seeing in St. Augustine, sightseeing trolley, horse-drawn carriage, walking tour or cruise boat. Some of the popular sightseeing spots are the old fort, Fountain of Youth, Lightner Museum and Flagler College. |
